1979 Topps Nolan Ryan #115 PSA Gem Mint 10. Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan's legendary 27-year MLB career was defined by his blistering fastball, unmatched durability, and jaw-dropping strikeout totals. His durability led to pitching 222 complete games, even throwing as many as 235 pitches in a 13-inning game in 1974, which are just mind-boggling numbers when compared to today's era where so many specialists are brought in. Ryan's first full season occurred with the New York Mets in 1968, which was followed by the team's improbable 1969 World Series run. His legacy, however, would be cemented elsewhere. By the time he retired in 1993, Ryan had notched 324 wins, a league-best 5,714 strikeouts, and a record seven no-hitters. Though he surprisingly never won a Cy Young Award, his first-ballot Hall of Fame induction in 1999, with 98.79% of the vote, confirmed his greatness.Offered here is a 1979 Topps #115 showcasing Ryan in mid wind-up as a member of the California Angels, where he threw four of his seven no-no's. The presented specimen is found with nice color, superb centering, snow white borders, four sharp corners and an extremely clean reverse. Graded PSA Gem Mint 10. Of the more than 7,800 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of only 13 cards graded Gem Mint.
