1975 Topps Thurman Munson #20 PSA Gem Mint 10 - Pop Four. Every Yankees fan remembers the late 1970's brilliance of their fallen captain who was the 1976 MVP Award winner, who achieved Fall Classic glory in 1977 and 1978. Fewer recall his dazzling premiere. He'd drive in two runs and catch Al Downing's complete game shut-out in his August 8, 1969 debut before earning the starting job for 1970, when he'd top .800 in OPS and nail over half of aspiring enemy base thieves. Here we find the doomed backstop from an issue that has bedeviled collectors looking only for the best of the best. The full-bleed borders looked gorgeous straight out of the pack and still do in spite of the feature serving to amplify the slightest edge or corner wear in a way that white borders generously forgive.
