    Description

One of only three at the top of the pops!

1975 Topps Robin Yount Rookie #223 PSA Gem Mint 10. The Topps company raised the price of its packs a nickel in 1975, a fifty percent increase that surely was an unwelcome surprise to America's youth. But those fifteen-cent packs opened to reveal contents bursting with technicolor beauty, dazzling a baseball fanbase during the age of the Big Red Machine, but setting the stage for maddening frustration among collectors in our modern times.

Here's why. The full-bleed design of the 1975 Topps issue is so unforgiving of even the slightest mishandling that Gem Mint cards are nearly impossible to locate today. In fact, a larger number of 1974 Topps Baseball cards (with standard white borders) have earned the top rating from PSA despite the fact that over forty percent more 1975 Topps Baseball representations have been submitted for evaluation.

Here we find one of only three Gem Mint 10 examples of one of the issue's key rookies, celebrating the arrival of a man who would go on to earn membership within the 3,000 Hit Club in 1992, and in the Baseball Hall of Fame seven years after that. How special is this card? Consider this: the population of 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle cards in Gem Mint 10 condition is identical. This card is pedigreed as part of "The Hill Collection," referencing a gentleman whose hobby focus was elite 1970's cardboard.
