Description

1973 Topps Johnny Bench #380 PSA Gem Mint 10 - Pop Three! By the start of the 1973 MLB season, Cincinnati Reds mainstay catcher Johnny Bench had established himself as a force to be reckoned with. Already a two-time National League MVP (1970 and '72), Bench was an inspiring and stabilizing presence for "The Big Red Machine" and always led by example. His leadership blossomed a couple of years later when the Reds won back-to-back World Series titles (1975 and '76), and actually wound up being named MVP of the latter Fall Classic. Bench's well-deserved induction into Cooperstown took place in 1989.

Offered is a 1973 Topps card that shows Bench corralling a foul ball just in front of the San Francisco Giants dugout. This incredibly well-preserved specimen of card #380 from the '73 Topps set is found with all the right elements: good color, superb centering, snow white borders, four sharp corners and a clean back. Graded PSA Gem Mint 10. Of the more than 2,500 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of only three cards graded GEM MINT.
