Description
1973 Topps Jim Hunter #235 PSA Gem Mint 10 - Pop One! Hall of Famer Jim "Catfish" Hunter is considered Major League Baseball's first "million-dollar man" in terms of total contract value. On December 31, 1974, after becoming the first modern free agent due to a contract dispute, he signed a five-year, $3.75 million contract with the New York Yankees. Prior to his arrival in the Big Apple, Hunter was a dominant righthander for the Oakland A's, leading the ballclub to three consecutive World Series crowns (1972 to '74).Offered is a beautifully preserved (and ultra rare) 1973 Topps card showing Hunter demonstrating his pitching motion during a photo shoot. This example of card #235 from the '73 Topps series is found in immaculate condition with outstanding color, great registration, spot-on centering, four razor-sharp corners and a clean reverse. Graded PSA Gem Mint 10. Of the more than 700 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is the only card graded GEM MINT.
Guide Value or Estimate: $10,000 - up.
