1972 Topps Willie Mays #49 PSA Gem Mint 10. He defined the ultimate five-tool player. His nickname was the "Say Hey Kid." And his name was Willie Mays. When it came to breaking the mold for all-time center fielders, Mays smashed it. A 12-time Gold Glove winner for his defensive prowess, Mays was just as capable when he was standing at the plate with a bat in his hands. Through 23 seasons in the Major Leagues, Willie batted a steady .301 but packed incredible power as demonstrated by his 660 round-trippers. What about the base paths, you ask? With incredible speed and trickery, he managed to swipe 339 bases. His induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame was a foregone conclusion and took place in 1979.Offered is a nicely preserved 1972 Topps card that captures Willie toward the end of his illustrious career. It shows the slugger extraordinaire with (what else?) a bat in his hands.
