Description

1972 Topps Roberto Clemente #309 PSA Mint 9. Pittsburgh Pirates legend Roberto Clemente was .317 lifetime batter who recorded exactly 3,000 hits before his life ended tragically at age 38. On Dec. 31, 1972, while on a humanitarian mission to assist earthquake survivors in Nicaragua, Clemente was killed when the overloaded plane he was on crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. Always a fan favorite in the Steel City, Clemente earned 12 Gold Gloves for his flawless fielding in right field and helped the Bucs win two World Series titles (1960 and '71). Offered is a 1972 Topps card that shows Roberto juggling a single baseball during pregame warmups. This example of card #309 from the '72 Topps set is found in Mint condition with outstanding color, great centering, snow white borders, four sharp corners and a clean reverse. Graded PSA Mint 9.
