Description

Signed 1968 Venezuela Topps Johnny Bench - Reds Rookie Stars #247 PSA Poor 1, PSA/DNA Auto 10. Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench played his entire 17-year MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds and set the standard for modern backstops with his exceptional skills behind the plate, his powerful hitting exploits (389 HR), and his on-field leadership. He earned a pair of NL MVP awards (1970 and '72) and led the Big Red Machine to back-to-back World Series titles in 1975 and '76. He's depicted on this 1968 Venezuelan Topps card alongside fellow rookie and teammate Ron Tompkins. This example of card #247 is found in low-grade condition but is nicely bolstered by the fact that Bench signed it in bold blue marker. He signed his name and added two special inscriptions: "14X All-Star" and "2X NL MVP." Graded PSA Poor 1 with a certified autograph graded PSA/DNA Auto 10.
