1969 Topps Nolan Ryan #533 PSA Mint 9 - Only Three Higher. The mid to late-1960s can be summed up in one word - pitching. If your preference was an established veteran like Juan Marichal or Bob Gibson. The 60s is when guys like Phil Niekro, Steve Carlton, Catfish Hunter, Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer, and of course, this man - Nolan Ryan - were all making their mark and well on their way to Hall of Fame careers. Ryan has to be considered one of the most important pitchers of his era. He dominated the opposition with a fastball that just never seemed to waver, as evidenced by his seven no-hitters, 5,700+ strikeouts, and 324 wins. The 1969 Topps set marks just the second annual appearance by Ryan and to this day remains a highly sought-after gem. This unassuming card helped to familiarize the future strikeout king with a generation of Mets fans and card collectors alike.
