Description
1967 Venezuela Topps Ted Williams #148 SGC Good+ 2.5. It was in 1959 when Topps expanded into the South American market. The sets would be based on their US promotions in players and design. In 1967 they upped their game with cards featuring American players, Venezuelan players and a now highly coveted 5-card selection of "Retirado" cards which featured retired greats of Major League Baseball's near and distant past. The cards are easily identified by their simple blue backgrounds and a large "RETIRADO" across the front. On the back of the cards, one finds player stats and a short bio. They are difficult to find in high grade. The roster includes names like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Honus Wagner, Ted Williams, Satchel Paige and Jackie Robinson. This auction features an enticing selection of these coveted cards.Offered is a 1967 Venezuelan Topps "Retirado" card #148 featuring Ted Williams. Graded SGC Good+ 2.5. One of only fourteen total graded by SGC. This is the only one graded GOOD+ with three rated higher.
