1967 Topps Roger Maris #45 "Yankees" Blank Back Proof Card SGC Authentic. In 1967, Roger Maris was traded from the Yankees to St. Louis and as a result, the Topps card which designated him as a Yankee was only produced as a proof and was never issued. Only a short supply of these "Yankees" cards were ever printed and the vast majority of the cards were incinerated when the company's building and inventory were destroyed by fire in the late 1970's. Those that remain are blank backed and normally appear in extremely off-centered orientation. This is a superior example of the rarity, featuring uncommonly strong centering and NM/MT condition corners. An ideal specimen of this Topps rarity and absolutely one of the finest examples in the hobby.
