Description

1961 Topps Carl Yastrzemski (Star Rookie) #287 PSA Mint 9 - Only Four Higher. Timing is everything, as they say. When Boston Red Sox rookie Carl Yastrzemski arrived on the scene, he was tasked with filling a large hole left by the departure of longtime left fielder and lifetime .344 hitter Ted Williams. For the next two decades and change, "Yaz" would admirably serve as not only Teddy Ballgame's capable successor but as the premier baseball player in New England. When he finally decided to hang up his cleats after his 23rd season of service, Yastrzemski had tallied 3,419 hits (including 452 home runs) and knocked in 1,844 runs. His enshrinement in Cooperstown took place in 1989.

Offered is Yaz's 1961 Topps "Star Rookie" card. The presented example of card #287 from the '61 Topps set is found in high-grade condition with outstanding color, great centering, milky white borders, four sharp corners and a clean reverse. Graded PSA Mint 9.
