1960 Topps Carl Yastrzemski Rookie #148 PSA Mint 9. In all of Major League Baseball, there is no more unusual assignment than left field at Fenway Park, a stubby parcel of ground bordered by a thirty-seven foot tall fence that transforms routine fly balls into pinballing doubles upon the slightest misjudgment of a carom. Daunting enough was the task of inheriting a position owned for two decades by one of the game's all time greats, but the Green Monster multiplied the challenge for a young Yaz, who, like his left-handed batting predecessor, experienced only the challenges and rarely the kindnesses of the Big Leagues' funkiest geometry.There's nothing but geometric bliss here, however, with four perfectly untouched corners and evenly-spaced borders hemming in a gorgeous and glossy image of a legend on the rise. Clean surfaces. A truly spectacular memento of the Sox' most important post-war debut. Only one submission in over 6,000 attempts has ever topped this example!
