Description

Signed 1958 Topps Roberto Clemente #52 PSA VG 3, PSA/DNA Auto 8 - Pop Two, None Higher! The late Roberto Clemente left a lasting impression on the City of Pittsburgh, Major League Baseball and the world in general. A tremendous right fielder with a cannon for a right arm, he dazzled crowds with his defensive prowess as well as his prolific hitting exploits at the plate. A career .317 batter, he collected exactly 3,000 during his 18 seasons in the Steel City. The 1966 NL MVP, he also helped the Bucs capture World Series titles in 1960 and '71. His tragic death at age 38, due to an airplane crash on Dec. 31, 1972, while transporting much-needed supplies to earthquake victims in Nicaragua, left many with holes in their hearts.

Presented is a 1958 Topps card that features the great humanitarian posing in an appropriate batting stance. This example of card #52 from the '58 Topps series if found in Very Good condition with good color and a clean reverse. But what sets this specimen apart from all the rest is the sought-after signature that adorns the front from the beloved Hall of Famer. Clemente signed his name diagonally in blue ink, which adds beauty, balance and historical significance to the card. Graded PSA VG 3 with an autograph certified and graded PSA/DNA Auto 8. This is one of only two autographed cards found in the PSA Pop Report that's graded VERY GOOD with none rated higher.
