    Description

Extremely Rare 1952 Topps Frank Campos, Black Star Variation #307 PSA VG-EX 4. The standard is that a gold star represents excellence. With this undeniable rarity a black star is the symbol that takes the average to something extraordinary. Frank Campos made his debut in 1946 after playing ball in Portsmouth and Havana, Cuba. Although his playing career wasn't notable, but his contribution to the hobby is pure "star" status. A typical 1952 Topps card in every aspect but one, the Campos "Black Star" variation is now one of the hobby's rarest entry's with just under 9% of the total card #307s submitted to date displaying the coveted printing mishap. The star in question appears on the reverse just to the right of the "TOPPS BASEBALL" copy along the bottom. Kudos to the pressman who caught the minor production glitch. The card itself displays light corner wear, a slight 3/8" long edge impression in the left border area with graphics almost perfectly centered. A solid middle grade example not to be dismissed lightly.
