Description

1959 Topps "Mantle Hits 42nd Homer For Crown" #461 PSA Gem Mint 10 - Pop Three! The historical home run race of 1961 was not the first chase of Mickey Mantle's career. In 1958, it was not a fellow Yankee that challenged "The Mick" for the home run crown but a youngster in a Cleveland Indians uniform named Colavito. Rocky was only in the third full season of his All-Star career and in 1958 went all out and put 41 baseballs over the outfield fences. Mantle would belt #42 to win the '58 crown, the third HR crown of his career. Topps honored the occasion on card #461 as part of the "Baseball Thrills" sub-set from their standard 1959 edition. The card is titled "Mantle Hits 42nd Homer For Crown," a marks the crowning achievement that helped the Yankees take the American League Championship and eventually the World Championship. A "pack-fresh" looking beauty.
Graded PSA Gem Mint 10. One of only three graded GEM MINT.
