1959 Home Run Derby Mickey Mantle SGC NM 7. Today, the "Home Run Derby" is an event held before the annual All Star Game thrilling American and National League fans alike. In 1959, "Home Run Derby" referred to a very popular television program that showcased baseball's best home run sluggers in a contest of strength and skill. A scarce 20-card set was produced in 1959 promoting the show, today they remain among the more scarce baseball cards of the 1950's. Post card sized and produced on flimsy card stock they are as condition sensitive as they are scarce. The card shows slight wear at corner tips with a precisely centered portrait. Currently, PSA has yet to receive 250 total submissions. Offered is one of the finest examples on record of Yankees legend Mickey Mantle! Graded SGC NM 7. This is one of nine total examples graded by SGC. This is the lone card in NM with just one rated higher. A scarcely seen Mantle card no vintage collection should be without.
