Description

1958 Topps Roger Maris #47 PSA NM-MT 8. Roger Maris was a back-to-back AL MVP (1960 and '61) while playing right field for the New York Yankees, but he started his Major League career with the Cleveland Indians (1957). A career .260 hitter, he made a name for himself by surpassing Babe Ruth's longstanding single-season record for home runs by clubbing 61 round-trippers in 1961. Offered is Roger's coveted 1958 Topps rookie card. Card #47 from the '58 Topps set shows the upstart slugger gazing off into the distance just prior to the start of his second season with the Tribe. This example is found in high-grade condition, with good color and centering, four sharp corners and a clean reverse. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
