1957 Topps Don Drysdale #18 PSA Mint 9 - None Higher. The 1957 Topps baseball series is immensely popular for many reasons. One is the unquestionably impressive class of rookie cards topped off by HoFers Frank and Brooks Robinson, Jim Bunning and the "Big D!" There is also a list of notable stars who made 1957 their debut year. The 407-card promotion set the stands for the use of photography and what would become the "standard" card size still in use today.

Drysdale won just over 200 games in his 14-year career. His talents and personality cemented his place in Dodgers lore helping the now-sunshine drenched ex-Dem Bums to World Series championships in 1959, 1963 and 1965. Add a Cy Young award in 1962 (25-9 with 232 Ks) and a 58 2/3 scoreless inning streak in 1968 and the result is a place in Cooperstown.

Graded PSA Mint 9. From a total population of almost 3,500 submissions, this card is one of just seventeen examples graded MINT with none higher. That puts this card in the top one-half of one-percent finest PSA examples. Rookie cards featuring HoFers are a thriving market but new finds that offer cards of this extreme quality are going to few and far between.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
