Description

1956 Topps Roberto Clemente (Gray Back) #33 PSA NM-MT 8. Presented is a 1956 Topps card featuring the late, great Roberto Clemente, Hall of Fame right fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. A lifetime .317 batter with exactly 3,000 hits to his name, Clemente was equally good in the field as he earned 12 Gold Glove awards for his stellar defense. He lost his life on Dec. 31, 1972, while en route to Nicaragua with much-needed supplies for earthquake victims. The overloaded plane in which he was traveling crashed into the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Puerto Rico. He was only 38.

This white-back example of his second-year Topps card (#33) is found in tip-top condition with rich colors, nice centering, four razor-sharp corners and a relatively clean reverse. This card is highly sought-after by Pirate fans as well as set collectors trying to complete their personal collections. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
