1955 Topps Jackie Robinson #50 SGC VG/EX 4. In the Majors, pitchers threw at his head and base runners tried to spike him, and in his early career Robinson followed Branch Rickey's request to have "the guts not to fight back." He was the MLB Rookie of the Year in 1947 and the NL MVP in 1949. He hit .311 lifetime and made the Hall of Fame. He helped the Dodgers to six pennants and their 1955 World championship. His electrifying baserunning, or just the threat of it, could take over a game.

The 1955 Topps set was issued when Topps was still in its card war with Bowman. Because many players had exclusive contracts with Bowman, the Topps set was only 206 cards. Topps used a horizontal design and featured its more recent practice of having two photos on front. Here Robinson is depicted in portrait and batting images. Graded SGC VG/EX 4.
