    Population twenty-three, none finer!

1955 Topps Hank Aaron #47 PSA Mint 9. Heritage regulars will recall our $358,500 price realized for a Mint 9 example of Aaron's 1954 rookie card in August 2016, a card with a nearly identical population at the grade but also two Gem Mint 10's. We'll be the first to acknowledge that rookie status will always reign supreme within the market, but from a purely mathematical standpoint, this specimen is even tougher at an elite level. That's right--there are twenty-four rookies at Mint 9 or better, but only twenty-three from Aaron's sophomore campaign, of which this is one.

The 1955 Topps Baseball set has always held a special place in our hearts besides, as it pioneered the "landscape" design format for the Bubble Gum Era while introducing us to two pantheon-level figures in the form of Roberto Clemente and Sandy Koufax, as well as fellow Hall of Fame Harmon Killebrew. But Aaron is considered the key of the non-rookies.

And of that non-rookie breed, this is as good as it gets, a card untouched by the hands of time and unbeaten in nearly 4,000 attempts. Color, registration, centering, gloss, surfaces, corners--all are a dream come true.
