1955 Bowman Mickey Mantle #202 SGC 96 Mint 9 - Pop One, None Higher! The 1955 Bowman Baseball set might have been their last effort but give them credit for going down swinging. Using television as a design format was genius. The medium brought Elvis to the adoring public for the first time. The first World Series broadcast in color was in 1955. The Mighty Mouse Playhouse introduced the Saturday morning cartoon. At the time, 77% of US households had a television but most were still Black & White. We can just imagine how this card set encouraged youngsters to get mom and dad up the TV ante. This auction features card of all three of the top superstars of the era - Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle. Each is an unquestionable condition rarity as each are the highest examples currently known in an SGC holder.
Graded SGC 96 Mint 9. This is a "Pop One-of-One With None Higher! title holder. For this set, after nearly 10,000 attempts, this condition represents just under 1% of that total population and there is just one graded higher. For each of these special cards, color, registration, centering, gloss, surfaces, corners--all are what a collector dreams about. Ink quality is vivid and the sixty-two year old gloss shines as if it was applied yesterday. The new owner(s) will undoubtedly realize they have in fact won a card worthy of the Mint condition assessment.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.View More Testimonials
