    Description

1954 Wilson Franks Ted Williams PSA NM 7. For a brief span during the spring and summer of 1954, packages of Wilson Franks hot dogs offered what are now highly prized 2-5/8" x 3-3/4" baseball cards, each bearing the likeness of one of the more talented and admired players of the 1950's era. The brief, 24-man roster is spiced up with names like Campanella, Fox and Feller but none generates the reverence and awe of the name Theodore Samuel (Ted) Williams. If you wanted a Ted Williams card in the summer of 1954 your options were limited. Although Topps wisely honored him with both the first and last card of their standard production, legal issues would limit Ted's availability from Bowman, leaving only regionally circulated premiums to provide an opportunity to acquire a card of "Teddy Ballgame."

Graded PSA NM 7. One of nine in NM with seven rated higher. This classic series has many of the 1950's stars as do other sets of the era but are obviously far more difficult to acquire. Compared to other issues from 1954 - PSA has currently graded over 1,700 total Wilson Franks (almost 300 are qualified) compared to over 2,300 '54 Johnston Cookie Braves, over 3,200 Dan Dee Potato Chips, almost 68,000 Bowman and 140,000 Topps cards.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
