1954 Wilson Franks Bob Feller SGC 96 Mint 9 - The Highest SGC Example, Pop One! This amazing collectible has capitalized on its production's generous dimensions, colors that resonate a kinetic energy, and a clean and thoughtful design to yield one of the hobby's most flattering portrayals of Cleveland Indians fireballer Bob Feller. The beyond-spectacular preservation quality enjoyed by this showpiece example aside, the Wilson Franks series illuminates the evolution of trading card distribution. Prior to the advent of cards' recognition as keepsakes best maintained in attractively uncirculated condition, distributors seemed almost to find joy in flagellating their wares. Cards bounced from production lines, stuffed into product, constrained in ill-fitting packages -- were more often the rule than the exception. And nowhere was this inattention to the prospect of long-term survival more harshly practiced than those employed by Wilson Franks, which placed cards within the greasy grasp for just a single year in 1954.

Among the 395 cards from the entire Wilson Franks issue that reside in SGC holders, just one piece -this piece- reigns supreme at the very pinnacle of the release's total census as none has yet to achieve the Gem MT distinction. The next finest copy manages an SGC 86 NM+ rating. This Feller card, specifically, has garnered the ultimate evaluation for its issue, sharing that ultimate position with no others. Barely handled Wilson Franks cards are traditionally the fuel of wild dreams and aspirations of obsessed hobbyists but we can confirm no hint of disturbance on this remarkable copy. Feller's image is impeccable on the card, and its overall appearance is extremely sharp. An extraordinary Hall of Fame representative from an always-challenging issue!
