1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chips Duke Snider SGC 96 Mint 9 - Pop One, None Higher! Practically untouched and in immaculate condition we present what can be described as one of the finest early-1950's Duke Snider cards as recorded on any census report. This is not just another example of a nationally issued and easily recognizable gum card. His portrait captures his enduring smile, the face exudes that confidence "Dem Buns" sought in their heroes. His is a glance of confidence and on the verge of profoundly impacting a generation of young and old Brooklyn-ites alike. Any kid from any state could own a Topps or Bowman brand gum card of Snider in the summer of '54. One had to be a true hometown fan to pull this card from a bag of Dan-Dee chips. This Snider card has rightfully earned the ultimate evaluation for its issue, sharing that pinnacle position with no other like counterpart. Among the 685 cards from the entire Dan-Dee issue that reside in SGC holders, just 4 pieces - that is .005% of the release's total census -- have successfully aspired to the Mint 9 level, none has achieved Gem MT distinction and among four, the other three "96s" are all Mickey Mantle! Barely handled Dan-Dee cards typically show a few widely spaced perf-tabs at the edges and corners -- vestiges of attachment to other cards before being separated at the factory -- and those tiny, remnant appendages show no hint of disturbance. Snider's smiling portrait is impeccable on the card, an extraordinary feat considering the delicate layer of wax that has without question served its purpose.
