Description

1954 Bowman Ted Williams #66 SGC VG/EX 4. Ted Williams, the legendary Boston Red Sox slugger, was already considered one of the greatest hitters in baseball history by 1954. Having returned from his second military service during the Korean War, Williams continued to command respect for his pure hitting ability and keen eye at the plate. The 1954 Bowman #66 Ted Williams card is one of the most famous anomalies in post-war baseball card history. Initially part of the Bowman set, the card was quickly withdrawn due to Williams' exclusive contract with Topps, resulting in its abrupt replacement with Jimmy Piersall. Terrific looking mid-grade example that has been rated primarily for moderate corner tip wear. Graded SGC VG/EX 4.
