    Description

1953 Topps Willie Mays #244 PSA NM 7. "Blessed with tremendous natural ability, Willie can do almost everything just a little better than the next fellow." This quote was written about nineteen-year old Willie Mays. After a brief stop in the minors, Mays quickly earned a one-way ticket to the Big Apple, batting .477 in thirty-five games and dazzling spectators with his range and arm in the outfield. As a pro, "The Say Hey Kid" would earn his immortality in the black and orange of the New York/San Francisco Giants. From his debut season his talents impressed, as he would claim the 1951 National League Rookie of the Year Award and meeting fellow rookie Mickey Mantle in the 1951 Fall Classic. Graded PSA NM 7. Presented is a very nice, high-end example of Mays' second Topps card from 1953. Rated mostly for centering. Deep colors, tight registration and fresh gloss provide an appealing aesthetic.
