    Description

1953 Topps Satchell Paige #220 PSA NM-MT 8. He was famous for saying, "Don't look back, someone might be gaining on you," but of the 1,984 Paige cards from the beautiful 1953 Topps issue submitted to PSA, only eight surpass the NM/MT grade level. This card boasts one of the finest baseball portraits you'll see anywhere, capturing so many years of a hard baseball life in the lines of Satchel's face also conveying an exuberance that Paige had he was also a smart business man and promoter of the sport. This card is a genuine beauty, as ageless as the man himself. The ageless wonder finally made his break into the big leagues after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier, a barrier many felt Paige should have had the distinction of being the first to overcome
