    Description

1952 Topps Willie Mays #261 PSA NM 7. Willie mays was "Blessed with tremendous natural ability, Willie can do almost everything just a little better than the next fellow." That was written about the then nineteen-year old Willie Mays. After a brief stop in the minors, Mays quickly earned a one-way ticket to the Big Apple, batting .477 in thirty-five games and dazzling spectators with his range and arm in the outfield. As a pro, "The Say Hey Kid" would earn his immortality in the black and orange of the New York/San Francisco Giants. From his debut season his talents impressed, as he would claim the 1951 National League Rookie of the Year Award and meeting fellow rookie Mickey Mantle in the 1951 Fall Classic.

Graded PSA NM 7. Presented is a fabulous example of Mays' first Topps card from 1952. Near-mint in all regards, the card is surpassed by fewer than a quarter of all unqualified submissions to PSA. Close to perfect centering, bold colors, tight registration and fresh gloss provide an aesthetic appeal more often found at a superior level.
