Description

1952 Topps Willie Mays #261 PSA EX-MT 6. Hall of Famer Willie Mays, the much-celebrated "Say Hey Kid," had a career that most Major Leaguers could only dream about. After winning the 1951 National League Rookie of the Year Award, he went on to capture two NL MVP awards (1954 and '65), a World Series crown in '54, 12 Gold Glove awards via his flawless defense in center field, and was selected to 24 All-Star Games. A career .301 batter, he could also hit for power and launched 660 moon shots and stole 339 bases. He was deservedly elected to Cooperstown as a first-ballot inductee in 1979.

Offered is Willie's very first Topps card ever produced. Originating from the historic '52 Topps series, card #261 shows Mays sporting a stern look on his faces as he glances past the photographer. The colorized image is a classic portrait and a favorite among baseball historians and card collectors alike. This presented example, though showing a bit off-center, is found in middle-grade condition with deep, rich colors, solid registration and a clean reverse. Graded PSA EX-MT 6.
