    Description

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 SGC VG+ 3.5. Sometimes the collecting stars align, as was clearly the case when the Topps company's first great set was issued with the rookie card of the post-war era's most beloved star. The 1952 Topps set is considered one of the hobby's "Big Three" along with the T206 and 1933 Goudey issues, and the Mick's rookie is far and away Topps' most coveted and valuable card. The young Oklahoman leads off the fabled "high-number" series that saw most of its population drowned in the Atlantic after failing to reach retail outlets before the close of the 1952 season.

Graded SGC VG+ 3.5. The grade is a reflection on some corner wear which can best be described as showing a slight bluntness to a gentle rounding under magnification and a couple gentle scrapes along the top edge. The outer borders are clean and pleasing frosty to white glow which nicely compliments the central portrait. An attractive example with a solid investment outlook if the trends to date are any indication.
