    Description

1952 Topps Larry Doby #243 SGC 88 NM/MT 8. All are aware of the racial barrier broken by Jackie Robinson in 1947. Largely overlooked is Larry Doby, the first African-American to play in the American League that same summer of '47. Doby played in 29 games for the Cleveland Indians to earn that distinction. This is an amazing example of card #243 from the 1952 Topps series. Colors, surfaces, and corners are all as nice as one will find in a 58 year old card. Slightly more precise centering may have generated a higher technical grade. For the collector who likes old cards that look brand new.
