Description

1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle #101 BVG EX+ 5.5. Still nursing a sore right knee from Game 2 of the 1951 World Series, New York Yankees center fielder Mickey Mantle returned to action in April of 1952 with desire and something to prove. Though the season-ending knee injury he sustained in the previous year's Fall Classic was still a year away from being surgically repaired, Mantle played the whole '52 campaign with what can only be described as pure guts. Somehow, despite the nagging injury, he still managed to club 23 home runs and knock in 87 runs. And with his inspiring help, the Yankees won a second straight World Series crown with "The Mick" in their starting lineup.

Presented is a 1952 Bowman card that shows a somewhat subdued Mantle taking in the on-field action from a perch in front of the bleachers. The offered example of card #101 from the popular '52 Bowman series is found in middle-grade condition with superb color, nice centering, good registration, and a clean reverse. Graded BVG EX+ 5.5.
