Description
1952 Berk Ross Mickey Mantle PSA NM-MT 8 - None Higher! This is a special card indeed. A 19-year-old young man from Spavinaw, Oklahoma, looks out toward the visiting photographer, holding the trusted tool of his trade, ready to launch yet another longball out of the park. Mickey Mantle, named after former big leaguer Mickey Cochrane, practically had baseball in his blood. Shown here about to enter his second year with the New York Yankees, Mantle appears on a very high-grade example from the often-sought-after 1952 Berk Ross series. He would go on to great fame, and the Baseball Hall of Fame, as a Bronx Bomber with 536 home runs to his name. This issue saw a limited regional release and includes a generous proportion of players from the New York City area, including the celebrated subject spotlighted here. This offering is a rare opportunity to own a very high-level card from the same year in which Mantle's celebrated Topps #311 card was released. It looks as nice as its impressive grade would suggest with rich color, nice centering, good corners and a flawless reverse. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. Of the more than 400 examples currently found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of only 23 cards graded NEAR MINT-MINT with none rated higher.
Guide Value or Estimate: $40,000 - up.
