Description

1951 Bowman Willie Mays Rookie #305 SGC Good 2. When Willie Mays made his Major League debut in 1951 for the New York Giants, he was just a 20-year-old upstart with visions of glory. Packing all five tools in his tool kit, Mays made a great first impression by batting .274, belting 20 home runs and knocking in 68 runs. For his impressive freshman effort, he was named the National League's Rookie of the Year. His career only catapulted from there. Presented is Willie's always-in-demand 1951 Bowman rookie card. While the back of the card covers his auspicious start in the minors and quick call-up to the big leagues, the horizontally designed front of the '51 card captures a colorized image of Willie offering a focused batter's pose. This example of card #305 from the '51 Bowman series is found in Good condition with good color and a clean reverse, but is missing its left border. Graded SGC Good 2.
