Description

1951 Bowman Willie Mays Rookie #305 PSA NM-MT 8 (MC). Hall of Famer Willie Mays defined the prototypical five-tool player. The 24-time All-Star had it all: hitting for average (.301 BA); hitting for power (660 HR); speed (339 steals); and fielding (12 Gold Gloves in center field). Willie's incredible career included winning NL Rookie of the Year honors (1951), two NL MVP awards (1954 and '65), and leading the New York Giants to the World Series title in '54. His much deserved first-ballot induction into Cooperstown occurred in 1979.

Presented is Willie's always-in-demand 1951 Bowman rookie card. Card #305 from the historic '51 Bowman set shows the prolific batsman gripping his preferred piece of lumber, ready to take a swing at any incoming pitch that looks good. The offered example, while miscut, exhibits great color, snow white borders, four good corners and a flawless reverse. This specimen would make a terrific addition to anybody's Mays or Giants rookie card collection. Graded PSA NM-MT 8 (MC).
