Description

1951 Bowman Roy Campanella #31 PSA NM-MT 8. Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella was a three-time NL MVP during his 10-year career with the Brooklyn Dodgers. A terrific all-around player, "Campy" compiled a lifetime batting average of .276 with the Blue Crew and hit 260 round-trippers and 232 doubles. At age 35, Campanella's career ended abruptly when he was badly hurt in a single-car crash in New York. The accident left him paralyzed from the shoulders down and confined to a wheelchair. His gritty play with Dem Bums, which included winning the 1955 World Series, was good enough to earn him a place in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Offered is a 1951 Bowman card that captures Campanella throwing off his catcher's mask in pursuit of a foul ball. This example of card #31 from the '51 Bowman set is found in Near Mint-Mint condition with rich colors, good registration, four good corners and a flawless reverse. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
