Unique 1949 Page's Pittsburgh Milk Co. Bread Jackie Robinson, Purple Stamp SGC 10 Poor 1.
As the only example known, this is the rarest Jackie Robinson card collectible. The 1947 Bond Bread series features 44 baseball players, three boxers and a wrestler. The roster of baseball players is packed with stars and immensely talented rookies. Bob Feller, Stan Musial, Pee Wee Reese, Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams were all well on their way to baseball immortality, but the rookies stole the show. The set marked the debut of Ralph Kiner, Yogi Berra and Phil Rizzuto and baseball legend and social icon Jackie Robinson! In 1949, "Page's Pittsburgh Milk Co." used the same cards for a promotion of their own. The cards featured a hand-stamped ad on the reverse that reads, "Page's Pittsburgh Milk Co. - The Sweetest Milk Ever Sold." A one-of-a-kind "offer card" (available in this auction) explained how kids had until Sept. 1, 1949 to exchange a complete set of 48 cards - with the Page's Pittsburgh Milk stamp - for a ROADMASTER Luxury Liner Bicycle! We can only image how few cards were stamped as a bicycle worth $69.95 is quite a huge prize, especially in 1947. This could also explain why these cards are so incredibly rare today. Offered is the only "Page's Pittsburgh Milk Co." card to feature Jackie Robinson. The reverse stamp is in purple (they are also found in Black ink stamps) and has been graded SGC 10 Poor 1 for creasing and surface loss. To the Robinson aficionado, this is quite possibly your one and only chance to add this card to your collection!

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
