    Description

    1949 Bowman Stan Musial #24 PSA Mint 9 - None Higher. Fathers could anticipate a routine question from their young sons: "Dad, who's the best baseball player?" The answers varied a bit depending on regional loyalties, naturally, but the replies follow a certain pattern. Joe DiMaggio. Mickey Mantle. Ted Williams. Willie Mays. All of these were "safe" answers that precipitated very little debate. If the boy persisted, though, and pressed for the best "National League player," few men lived up to the word "best," and one name was Stan Musial. The bold and simple beauty of the Bowman company's sophomore effort brings color into the mix, capturing this Hall of Fame Cardinal against a midnight blue background. Sharp corners, close to perfect (a thick hairline actually) centering, problem-free surfaces and tight registration put this example into an elite class. Graded PSA Mint 9. One of ten graded MINT with none rated higher.
