    Description

1949 Bowman Roy Campanella #84 PSA NM-MT 8. Roy Campanella - three-time National League MVP and the heart of the Brooklyn Dodgers. The booming backstop was an accomplished Negro Leaguer who made the transition to the majors at the age of 27. The Hall of Fame catcher was instrumental in the franchise's "glory years" between 1949 and 1956 -- not coincidentally, the same period of Campy's active big league service. The legendary player seemed unstoppable, only an off-the-field tragedy put a halt to the his baseball accomplishments. Offered is one of the finest recorded examples of his 1949 Bowman rookie card. The phenomenal portrait is both precisely registered and centered inside a frame of supple, frosty white excellence. Color quality is amazing. Graded PSA NM-MT 8.
