1949 Bowman Duke Snider Rookie #226 SGC 96 Mint 9 - Pop 1-of-2, Highest Graded Example! Here's the rookie card of "The Duke of Flatbush," a star outfielder for the revered Brooklyn Dodgers teams of the 1950's and one of the franchise's most popular figures. A member of the famed "Boys of Summer," Snider was instrumental in the 1955 club's long-awaited World Series victory, and he narrowly missed capturing that year's National League MVP honors.

To the chagrin of hobbyists who concentrate on "Brooklyn Bums" players in their collections, Snider's debut piece emerged in the '49 Bowman issue's scarcer series of "High Numbers." The card faces the additional obstacle of the time's soft and unforgiving cardstock, as well as notorious difficulties with respect to print quality. Here, though, one of the best-of-the-best Snider rookies imaginable is presented. This spectacular relic sits as a distinguished "1 of 2" in SGC's census reporting, sharing its tier with just one other copy. Among a total of 79 counterparts holdered by that company, none has been graded higher. With perfectly calibrated centering as just one highlight, the card also features apparently never-touched and factory-fresh "rough cuts" at the sides, peerless resolution in its image, and a generally fault-free aesthetic.
