Description

1949 Bowman Bob Feller #27 GAI NM- MT 8.5. Robert William Andrew Feller came off a farm in Iowa to pitch for the Cleveland Indians at the tender age of 17 in 1936. Amazingly, in August of that first season, Feller struck out fifteen batters in facing the St. Louis Browns. He pitched 18 seasons for the Tribe, despite missing nearly four years to military service. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Bob Feller was the first major leaguer to enlist. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. This post-war gum card features nice centering, brilliant coloring and a clean back
