    Description

1948 Old Gold Cigarettes Jackie Robinson "Kneeling In Dugout" Promo Card.
The bond between baseball and tobacco was still strong in 1948 when Old Gold Cigarettes picked Jackie Robinson to promote the no longer politically correct habit. In 1948, a series of postcard-size collectibles (3-1/2" x 5-1/2") appeared showcasing the 1947 rookie of the year. This is the "Kneeling In Dugout" pose featuring a facsimile message and signature with a 3-paragraph bio boldly printed on the back of the the thin card. A few short and light creases, light staining and a partially erased address written along the top in pencil result in a technically GD condition early-Robinson collectible. Also included is an envelope which does fit the card nicely and has been presented to us as the original envelope the card came in. With no advertising or address, we can not confirm this.
