Description

1948 Leaf Warren Spahn Rookie #32 PSA Mint 9 - Only One Higher! Warren Spahn stands on the sixth ring of the career wins ladder. Spahn's figure of 363 victories has never been bested in the Live Ball era, and as of today there is not a pitcher within thirty games of the southpaw Braves ace who didn't register at least the vast majority of his wins prior to 1920. This fact becomes all the more remarkable when considering that Spahn left for World War II combat after appearing in only four games in 1942. He wouldn't post his first career victory until 1946, when he was twenty-five years old. Randy Johnson was a 25-year old rookie and made a valiant effort but retired with 303 wins. Stan Musial once joked that Spahn would never make it into the Hall of Fame only because he would never stop pitching.

Graded PSA Mint 9. One of only four examples to earn the Mint rating with one Gem Mint 10 to claim supremacy. That Gem Mint card sold in a Heritage auction in April 2018 for $192,000 and then again in May 2021 for 252,000! This card compares quite favorably with that pack-fresh marvel. With near perfect centering, each corner displays a well-defined right angle. Not even a hint of vintage gum or wax staining that so often spoil the fun. By all means this card is fresh from the pack and does not seem to have aged a day in the last seventy years!
