Description

1948 Leaf Stan Musial #4 PSA NM-MT 8. With the best Major League talent answering Uncle Sam's call during the Second World War, and a tightening of the US budget to fund the military, production of baseball cards was largely back-burnered in the early to mid-1940's. But it would return with a vengeance in the later years of the decade, bringing new and exciting designs to a hobby on the brink of the explosion that the Topps company would soon provide.

The 1948-49 Leaf series picked up style and color pallets from propaganda posters of WWII. The set is famous for the lengthy list of scarce short prints and a few important rookie cards like Jackie Robinson, Warren Spahn and Stan "The Man" Musial. In the history of Heritage Sports, this is the second finest example we have been able to offer our clients. Once this card finds a home it has a tendency to remain there for a long time.

Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of twenty-six in NM-MT with a trio rated higher. Exceptionally deep hues combined with a vivid and clean frame make this an extremely pleasing, visually impressive portrait of Musial batting out one of his 3,630 hits. High quality corners and problem-free surfaces complete the condition assessment.
