1948 Leaf Luke Appling #59 PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 - Pop One, None Higher! Luke Appling was called "Ol' Aches and Pains" due to his constant complaints about minor injuries. By some miracle Appling spent a full two decades (missing 1944 to military service) in the Majors, earning Hall of Fame immortality in the process. Appling has two batting titles (1936 & 1944) to his credits and appeared in seven All-Star Games. No true fan doesn't remember the July 19, 1982 Old Timers game when a 75-year-old Appling hit a home run against 61-year-old Warren Spahn. A feat Appling accomplished only 45 times during his MLB years. Offered is the finest '48 Leaf card on record with PSA. It is one of the last cards to feature the beloved White Sox HoFer. Graded PSA NM-MT+ 8.5. This is the only card in NM-MT+ with none rated higher.
