    1948 Leaf Honus Wagner #70 SGC Mint 9. The '48 Leaf series is a landmark issue famous on many levels. The 101-card set helped usher in the modern era of the hobby. It's also important to stress the significance of the issue itself in the evolution of the hobby, the first post-war breed to feature color imagery. Half of the subjects are notorious short-prints that among the most difficult entries of the modern era with legends Paige and Feller on the scarcity roster. Then there are the rookies. Warren Spahn, Jackie Robinson, Stan Musial, George Kell and Larry Doby making early debuts. Joe DiMaggio starts the set off marking the swan song of his career and card #3 featuring Babe Ruth coming his final year. And then there is card #70 featuring the legendary Honus Wagner.

    The unmistakable bad and huge wad of chew in his hand is the most ironic portrait in the hobby considering his historical stance against tobacco. Offered is one of the finest examples on record, graded SGC Mint 9. One of three examples at the Mint level with none graded higher.
