Description

1948 Leaf Babe Ruth #3 PSA VG+ 3.5. New York Yankees great Babe Ruth passed away the same year that this 1948 Leaf card was issued. Released some 13 years after his playing days had ended, the card captures an almost somber-looking Ruth staring back at the photographer. A global ambassador for baseball, he almost single-handedly expanded the sport to foreign shores with his memorable barnstorming tours overseas. A .342 career batter, Ruth was best known for belting moon shots (714 round-trippers) during his Hall of Fame career.

Presented is card #3 from the historic and colorful 1948 Leaf series. The offered card from the '48 Leaf set provides a classic portrait pic of the "Bambino" who passed away from throat cancer on August 16, 1948, at the age of 53. This example of the popular Ruth specimen exhibits robust colors and a squeaky clean reverse, and would make a fine addition to anyone's vintage card collection. Graded PSA VG+ 3.5.
