Description
1948 Leaf Babe Ruth #3 PSA EX 5. Babe Ruth was a master showman in baseball circles. He attracted fans from all walks of life and from many different countries. A global ambassador for the game, he helped expand baseball to foreign shores with his memorable barnstorming tours overseas with Yankee teammate Lou Gehrig. A lifetime .342 hitter, Ruth was best known for delivering moon shots (714 home runs) but his gamesmanship out on the diamond was also a favorite trademark. To no one's surprise, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class of 1936.Presented is a 1948 Leaf card that honors the "Bambino" some 13 years after he retired. It was, in fact, released in the same year as his passing. Card #3 from the '48 Leaf series provides an appropriate portrait pic of Ruth as he was seemingly saying good-bye to the world. This mid-grade example of the card boasts good color and a clean reverse, but does line up off-center with some softened corners. Graded PSA EX 5.
